Sponsor Spotlight: Interior Connector

I’m very lucky to live in New York and have access to all the best home stores.  For those of you who can’t get here in person, you can now shop many of my favorites online at InteriorConnector.  The site brings together the best in home furnishings and interior design as well as a décor report.  You can shop at the chic downtown shop Etos, owned by my lovely friends Mercedes and Alberto, as well as Carolina George, Palumbo/Anderssen Modern, Venfield, Duane Modern, and many more.  The best part is that you don't even have to leave your house!  Happy Shopping!

Chic in New York: Etos

I've written about Etos before but they have recently renovated their space and it's definitely worth another look.  The store is owned by Mercedes Desios and Alberto Villalobos who met while they were students at the New York School of Interior Design.  They share not only a store but an interior design business and the chicest sense of style.  Mercedes is Italian and Alberto is Colombian and it seems like they are always flying off somewhere exotic to source for the shop and holiday.  They are not only talented but honestly two of the nicest people I've ever met.  Their travels mean the shop is an eclectic mix of antiques, accessories and new pieces.  I especially love the pre-Colombian bowls that Alberto brings back from visiting his family.  I hope you'll stop by the next time you're downtown.

Unapologetically Extravagant

I apologize for the lack of a post yesterday but I was busy helping my friends Mercedes Desios and Alberto Villalobos of the chic boutique Etos with their table for the annual Lenox Hill Neighborhood House benefit gala. Their table was entitled "Unapologetically Extravagant" and with butterflies from Deyrolle and a 17th century wooden pyramid filled with flowers from Fleurs Bella, it lived up to its name! My contribution consisted mostly standing around eating macaroons!

The evening honored the incomparable interior designer Albert Hadley who was introduced by his long time friend Bunny Williams. I was excited to be able to congratulate Newell Turner in person on his new post as editor-in-chief of House Beautiful. My dinner companions included the lovely designer Jonathan Rosen and Kristin Davis' hair stylist from the Sex and the City movie, Michael, whose last name I need to find out. He regaled us with stories from Marrakech but unfortunately no movie secrets. I look forward to posting more photos of the other wonderful tables from the event later but right now I'm off to a drapery installation. A decorator's work is never done!

Habitually Chic Boutique: Etos

I have been joking lately that once you're done visiting the ridiculously expensive shops on East 11th Street, pop into Etos where you can actually afford to buy something! I finally had the pleasure of checking out this chic shop and I'm so glad that I did because not only did I find things for my clients but I got to meet the fabulous owners! At first, I thought they were siblings but then found out that Italian born Mercedes Desio and Colombian born Alberto Villalobos met while at the New York School of Interior design and got along so well that they decided to go into business together. In addition to running their store, they also have a thriving interior design practice (hear that magazines)! They really are the nicest (and cutest!) shopkeepers in New York and what's even more exciting is that they will be in Paris at the same time as me and Stefan! Their trip to Versailles last November was a rainy mess so they might also accompany us to the chic chateau! Until then, make sure you stop in and visit them (and their little dog too!) the next time you're downtown! You won't be disappointed!
